Jay Gates , Bodmin’s Airfield Manager kicks off this season of Aeroclub evenings, Jay is presenting on Maritime Avaiation and Search & Rescue
This talk is about how the inevitable birth of powered aviation would eventually take it over water, and how maritime aviation has developed since the First World War, both Military and Civil. Maritime Aviation also spawned another aspect of flying, which is Air Sea Rescue, again both Military and Civil, and which is now a crucial arm of the Emergency Services in every developed nation, The talk will take you through all this history, with a focus on Devon & Cornwall.

Jay has been involved in Aerodrome Operations and safety management for over 25 years including management roles with the Manchester Airports Group, Airports Company South Africa and Regional and City Airports Group. Jay also has experience as an Aerodrome Operations Trainer and Auditor with Airports Council International
